What is plantar fasciitis?

One of the most common causes of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis involves inflammation of a thick tissue band called plantar fascia, which spans the entire plantar and connects the heel bone to the toe. The symptoms of plantar fasciitis usually include severe tingling, especially in the morning and after exercise. Frequent wear of the ligaments of the foot or excessive pressure on the foot can cause them to become inflamed, which can lead to heel stiffness and pain. Athletes and overweight people are more susceptible to plantar fasciitis. However, although the symptoms of plantar fasciitis have been clear, the true cause is still controversial. An influential 2003 research example believed that it was more focused on the degradation of the fascia rather than the inflammation of the fascia. Since plantar fasciitis literally means "inflammation of the fascia" in Latin, the more accurate name for a degenerative disease is actually "plantar fasciopathy."

No matter what we call it, the reason we talk about plantar fasciitis is mainly to relieve discomfort, stiffness and pain. One way is to change the shoes you wear. However, wearing orthopedic shoes in summer will be uncomfortable and will make your feet sweat. Then flip-flops may be your better choice. Our flip-flops are specially designed to support your feet and provide you with a natural fit and optimal arch support. Using high-quality saddle leather also helps to ensure that your toes will not be irritated while wearing.

There are many ways to relieve plantar fasciitis to relieve the pain and discomfort caused by plantar fasciitis. Here are the top five:

1. Drugs

The fastest way to relieve foot pain caused by plantar fasciitis is to use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These will help reduce pain and inflammation. If your symptoms are severe, your doctor may prescribe multiple doses per day for several weeks. Pain relievers such as ibuprofen (Advil) and naproxen sodium (Aleve) may also help relieve some symptoms of plantar fasciitis.

2. Physiotherapy

An appointment with a physical therapist will help evaluate and begin treatment for your plantar fasciitis. After you are diagnosed, a physical therapist can work with you to develop a plan to reduce your symptoms. Physical therapy for plantar fasciitis may include the following:

Gait assessment-analyze your walking style and how this might affect your symptoms

Stretching routine design-create routines to improve the flexibility of the ankle and plantar fascia

Muscle strengthening-exercises to improve foot strength

Icing - Your physical therapist may recommend regular use of ice cubes to relieve pain

Night splint — In some cases, wearing a night splint can help correct the position of your ankles and toes while you sleep.

However, your physical therapist may emphasize that one of the most important things in treating plantar fasciitis is to choose comfortable shoes with proper arch support. That's why we designed moderate arch support to prevent your feet and legs from being injured.

3. Surgery and other procedures

If more conservative treatments such as over-the-counter medications and physical therapy do not help treat plantar fasciitis, your doctor may recommend the following procedures to help relieve pain and inflammation:

Injection

Injecting steroid drugs into sore muscles can temporarily relieve the pain of plantar fasciitis. However, it is recommended not to do this too many times, as doing so will weaken your plantar fascia and may cause it to rupture. It is also possible to achieve tissue healing by injecting platelet-rich plasma from the patient itself into the area.

Ultrasound tissue repair

This is a minimally invasive technique that uses ultrasound imaging to guide the probe into the damaged plantar fascia tissue. The tip vibrates rapidly and helps break down the damaged tissue, and then suck it out.

Extracorporeal shock wave therapy

Another method is to use pressure waves to stimulate healing. Use high-energy sound waves to transmit mechanical force to body tissues and stimulate healing. Some studies have shown that this is effective, but it has not always been the case.

Surgery

When all other treatments fail and the pain continues to be chronic and severe, surgery is usually only an option for plantar fasciitis.

4. Lifestyle choices

In terms of self-care, you can do some things on your own to help reduce the pain and inflammation caused by plantar fasciitis:

Maintain a healthy weight, avoid high-intensity exercise, and choose supportive shoes.

5. Good shoes/orthotics

The last point is that we are best able to help you. Since the plantar fascia essentially acts as a "tie bar" to help support the arch of the foot, the best shoes for plantar fasciitis will be shoes that relieve pressure on the plantar fascia by providing adequate arch support.

Therefore, a good way to begin to relieve the pain of plantar fasciitis is to change one or two new shoes every season.
